LG’s very own high-fidelity music service for owners of LG mobile phones has just landed in the UK as well as nearly 70 other countries, although right now it’s a rather sparse selection.
Despite the fact that we now have more music streaming services than people on Earth, LG has just revealed plans to launch its own music service via the LG SmartWorld app. However, rather than just throwing out yet another Spotify-style streaming tool, LG’s service will allow users to download high quality tracks to listen to offline.
Owners of LG phones including the LG G3, LG G4 and LG G Flex 2 will receive the service via a SmartWorld update. And the good news is that LG has already confirmed for almost 70 countries including the UK, US, Australia, France, Italy, Russia and China.

So, why should you check out LG’s effort? Well, LG’s effort offers high-fidelity (Hi-Fi) music, delivering audio quality that’s a serious step up from bog-standard MP3s. With playback of 24bit/192kHz, you’ll be getting a clearer sound than CD playback too.
The Korean giant is also throwing up two free tracks each month for you to download, with an option to purchase more at a discounted price.
We’ve had a quick look at the SmartWorld music offering and so far it’s incredibly barren – just five free tracks in all by a band called Solip OH and Korean artist Shinjou Hanabi, who doesn’t even appear to have his own Wikipedia page. And if you want to buy some more music, you’re limited to an album by Go Seo Yee, with each track costing 60 pence. No, we don’t either.
Here’s hoping that the selection grows quickly and offers some Western tracks here in the UK soon, as we’re all for better music quality.
