LG InTouch Max GW620: Catchy name

LG has launched its first Android handset today – the LG InTouch Max GW620. Featuring a physical Qwerty slide-out keyboard as well as a touchscreen, the onus is on keeping InTouch (see what they did there?) with your friends via social networking as well as texting and calling.

There’s a 5-megapixel camera that shoots stills and video, which you can watch back on the 3-inch touchscreen. It comes with auto-face tagging, which will automatically recognise your friends’ faces from tagged photos, so you can call or text them simply by touching their face in a photo. An application called Linkbook, lets you go straight to a friend’s social network profile from your phone book.

Aside from being brilliantly customisable and easy to get to grips with, the other benefit of Android is access to the Android Market so LG InTouch Max GW620 users will be able to download free and paid-for apps to personalise their phone.

The LG InTouch Max GW620 is available from today. You can pick it up for free from T-Mobile on a 24-month contract or Virgin Media on an 18-month deal. Both contracts come with unlimited data so you can browse the web, social network and download apps to your heart’s content.

T-Mobile – free handset, £20 per month (24 months) unlimited data

Virgin Media – free handset, £22 per month (18 months) unlimited texts and data
