LG Nexus 4 pre-order pricing leaked early on Carphone Warehouse

LG’s first Nexus smartphone will be called the LG Nexus 4 and it will be revealed at the end of the month.

Whether it was a case of carelessness, or a calculated move to drum up interest for the device, the team at Carphone Warehouse appear to have let slip the yet announced new Google device ahead of the US company’s official event next week, the LG Nexus 4.

Anticipated to be the flag bearer alongside a range of other Nexus-related devices, the page of Carphone Warehouse’s website (which has subsequently been removed) lists a wealth of information about the LG-made smartphone, in particular that it’ll come running Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, the subject matter expected to be the crux of next week’s event.

Running through this latest revision of specs, the Nexus 4 is said to utilise a 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, just like LG’s own Optimus G. There’s just 8GB of internal storage, likely so that Google can hammer home the Play store’s addition content to consumers and there’s an ‘enhanced’ 8-megapixel camera. We say enhanced as ‘8+MP’ doesn’t divulge any decent amount of information, although we’ll almost certainly see a demo demystifying this point next week.

There’s quad-band 2G and 3G support but no mention of 4G LTE and naturally WiFi, Bluetooth and NFC as with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus: Google’s last pure Android smartphone.

GSM Arena were also prithee to some additional information by two anonymous tipsters who’ve sent what appears to be a page from an unpublished Carphone Warehouse catalogue, listing the LG Nexus 4 as being priced at £389.95 SIM-free and available for free on a £31 a month contract. What’s more, the new Nexus will be available in both black and white and will offer users up to 12 hours of battery life.

Any more detailed pricing we’ll have to wait until next week, unless more leaks spring up over the weekend that stands between now and then.

A leaked screenshot sent to The Verge from a Carphone Warehouse inventory (below) shows the product names ‘LG NEXUS 4 WHITE’ and ‘LG NEXUS4 BLACK.’ The ‘4’ presumably refers to it being the fourth Nexus branded phone, following the Google Nexus One, which was made by HTC and Samsung made Google Nexus S and Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

The name is a little unimaginative, although it could be a codename – perhaps LG will follow Samsung’s route and call it the LG Optimus Nexus?

According to leaked specifications (below) the LG Nexus 4 is based on a the LG Optimus G and will have a Snapdragon S4 processor, 8-megapixel camera and 720p HD screen.

So we’ve got some specifications and a name, but what about the LG Nexus 4 launch date? The leaks are coming thick and fast, French website (and newspaper) Le Figaro pegs the LG Nexus 4’s launch date as October 29th and the phone will be available in France in December.

We’ll keep you up to date with news of any more leaks about the LG Nexus 4.

Photos have emerged allegedly showing LG’s new Android smartphone and the next Google Nexus phone, following leaked specification information about the new Nexus phone (below). Photos of the new phone have appeared courtesy of XDA Developers , which have now been taken down.

The model number E960 is used and the about screen shows a model number ‘Fully JellyBean on Mako’ and according to The Verge, all Google designed Android device have been named after fish.

Alongside the photo leaks, Droid Life has reports of an FCC filing for the LG-E960, listed as a tri-band phone compatible with with AT&T’s 850/1900 GSM bands, which isn’t compatible with T-Mobile in the US. It also has an NFC chip, but no 4G.

We’re expecting to hear about the new LG Nexus phone in October, so we’ll bring you more news as soon as we get it.

Details have emerged about the forthcoming LG Nexus phone, which will have a quad-core Qualcomm processor and run Android 4.2, but will have limited storage options.

According to Modaco the as yet unnamed phone be based on the LG Optimus G (below), although it ‘doesn’t look the same.’ It too will be powered by a quad-core Snapdragon S4 processor, with 2GB RAM, but will launch on a later version of Android – 4.2 instead of 4.0 – and the camera will be 8-megapixels instead of 13-megapixels.

The most interesting detail is that the LG Nexus phone will initially only come with 8GB and 16GB internal storage and will not have a microSD slot – so memory can’t be expanded. We really hope this isn’t true, 8GB memory just isn’t enough if you’re shooting HD movies and downloading apps, so let’s hope LG is at least planning on manufacturing a 32GB version.

Elsewhere the battery can’t be removed – which is a real shame with a battery-devouring quad-core processor. The removable battery is a feature that distinguishes the LG Optimus 4X HD from rivals like the HTC One X.

The size of the screen hasn’t been revealed, but it will have an HD resolution of 1280×768 and use IPS technology, the LG Nexus phone will also support wireless charging.

Neither Google or LG have officially confirmed anything about the LG Nexus phone, but it’s rumoured to be launching mid-November. We really hope that it’s not the only Nexus device being released if these are final specifications – it’s possible Samsung will release a follow up to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, as we predicted in our Mobile Roadmap, but we’ll find out very soon.
