LG Nitro HD aka Optimus LTE heading to AT&T in the US

The jury’s still out on whether or not a non-4G/LTE version of the LG Optimus LTE will be heading to the non-4G/LTE shores of the United Kingdom. But if it does, it could well arrive under the name of the LG Nitro HD.

That’s what it appears to be called as it heads to AT&T over in the States according to Pocketnow, who’ve unearthed the above screengrab.

If anything, the new name at least does away with any mention of 4G or LTE.

The Nitro HD/Optimus LTE boasts a 4.5-inch screen with a Galaxy Nexus-matching resolution of 1280 x 720 (720p) and in-plane switching (IPS) which ought to improve brightness and viewing angles.

Other listed specs include a 1.5GHz chip, a hefty 1GB of RAM, 4GB of storage and an 8-megapixel camera that records HD video. LG had previously said that an HD movie editing app will come built in to the phone.

We’re hoping that this builds on the photo and video editing features that come with Ice Cream Sandwich as standard and presents something that’s a decent alternative to iMovie.

We’ve asked LG in the UK for a comment regarding UK and European availability of the Nitro HD/Optimus LTE.

Given that there’s a big old 4G trial due to kick off here in London next month, we’d at least be able to benefit from faster speeds until July 2012…
