LG Optimus 3D 2. Yes. Really.

After the HTC Evo 3D and the LG Optimus 3D, there were a lot of people scratching there heads as to why LG are set to churn out a second 3D phone. It isn’t that the prior phones were altogether terrible, rather that the 3D was one of the lesser compelling aspects of the handsets. That and the inconceivably bad battery life.

PocketNow however have semi-confirmed another venture into 3D from the Korean tech-giant having acquired some exclusive renders of what looks like the LG Optimus 3D 2. Purported to 3D-ise 2D content, aside from this ambiguous talent, the LG Optimus 3D 2 looks extremely familiar. With its 1.2GHz dual-core processor, dual 5-megapixel cameras and Android 2.3, specs are very 2011. It does look considerably thinner however, offering 10mm of girth in contrast to the 11.9mm of the original Optimus 3D.

Impressed? Hmm. Still, with LG’s significant investment in 3D TVs, there’s little wonder they’re getting in the ring for round two on the mobile front, and there’s every chance with these mid to high end specs, the price will be very competitive, potentially bringing 3D to the masses.

Now we know LG haven’t given up on mobile 3D, we’re looking forward to MWC where we’ll likely find out if HTC follow suit and rise to the dare challenge. We should also get more information from LG on their Optimus 3D 2, so if you are indeed looking forward to getting your hands on this 3D phone, watch this space and tell us why in the comments section below.
