LG Optimus 3D first pic leaked

Last week we heard rumours about the LG Optimus 3D; an Android phone with a glasses-free 3D display that might come with an Nvidia Tegra 2 3D chip. Now the first picture of a phone purporting to be the Optimus 3D has surfaced on Phandroid.

Genuine or not, this phone certainly looks the part; there’s a huge screen which at a glance looks like it’s around 4-inches and it has what looks like a front-facing camera too.

It doesn’t much look like the Optimus 2X or the Optimus Black either, so this could well be a prototype or early version of the Optimus 3D.

We also noticed that the launcher at the bottom is the Android 2.2/Froyo one, and doesn’t come with the green accents of the 2.3/Gingerbread launcher. So if this is indeed what the LG Optimus 3D will look like, it’s probably an in-progress model we’re looking at here.

A single pic also doesn’t really give you the impression of what a 3D display would be capable of, and at any rate it’s just a shot of a blank Android homepage, not an HD video clip of Avatar or something.

A big LG event is due to kick off at Mobile World Congress on the 14th of February – our money’s on the LG Optimus 3D getting shown off then.
