LG Optimus 3D: Pre-orders get early 27 June release date

It’s another release date for the dual-lens 3D phone; and Carphone Warehouse have said on their site that those that have pre-ordered the LG Optimus 3D online can expect delivery next week, starting Monday 27 June.

Exclusive to Carphone Warehouse on launch, this is two weeks ahead of their in-store launch date of 7 July.

The first 3D phone available on these shores will be free on contracts starting at £35 per month.

The Optimus 3D manages to pack a total of three cameras into its sturdy black frame. Aside from a front-facing lens, there are two on the back, allowing you to record 3D stills and video. The phone shouldn’t struggle with all that info; with a 1GHz dual-core processor.

A button on the right side makes switching between 3D and 2D display and filming a doddle, whilst the expansive 4.3-inch touchscreen has LG’s NOVA technology, said to use 50% less power than normal LCD screens when displaying white pixels.

It’ll be interesting to see how the Optimus 3D fares in a tough high-end market, despite its unique multidimensional features.

Expect to see more 3D offerings in the smartphone world soon. The US already has its hands on HTC’s Evo 3D. Although HTC hasn’t yet commented on whether the device will hit Blighty, our sources tell us it’s on the cards at some point later this year.
