LG has just confirmed that the LG Optimus L Series 2 will be on display at Mobile World Congress 2013. The new handsets arrive as a result of over 10 million sales of the original L Series devices and as well as maintaining some of the key elements of the original handsets, the company are introducing a few new ones too. Their official press release states:
“The design philosophy of L Series 2 has been enhanced to include four new design elements: Seamless Layout, Laser Cut Contour, Radiant Rear Design and Smart LED Lighting on the home button. L Series II also offers an expanded set of user-convenient features including those unique to LG smartphones such as QuickMemo, Quick Button and Safety Care. “

If you look to the Korean manufacturers for your dose of budget Android smartphone, you might have fallen in love with last year’s Optimus L Series phones from LG. The L3, L5, L7 and in some markets L9 arrived to offer premium design with a not so premium price tag. Well, the good new is that the L3, L5 and L7 are back, or at least there’s a strong possibility they will be.
Specs and an image making mention of the LG Optimus L Series 2 have appeared online (Coolsmartphone pointed us in the direction of Korean site Naver.com where the original leak was discovered), with some early specs for the successors to three of last year’s L Series handsets.
The L3 2 steps in at the bottom end of the range and a press image for the phone has even been found alongside a handful of specs. The most notable improvements over its sub-£100 predecessor look to be a faster 1GHz processor, a higher resolution 5-megapixel camera and a new 3.2-inch display. Next up is the mid-sized L5 2, whose processor has also been bumped up to 1GHz, features a 4-inch WVGA (480×800) screen and a newer GPU.

The top end of these three handsets falls to the responsibility of the L7 2, which alongside growing an extra core on its 1GHz processor, gets an 8-megapixel shooter and a battery boost from 1700mAh to an impressive 2460mAh capacity. What’s more, all three handsets should arrive with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.
Although, the authenticity of these handsets aren’t set in stone and we’re still waiting on the official line from LG, we have a good feeling about the arrival of these phones. We’ll get back to you when we’ve heard from LG directly.
