Mobile World Congress is just around the corner and whilst we’ve been inundated with rumours of Galaxy S6 this and HTC One M9 that, LG’s just fired out some hard facts about its forthcoming 2015 mid-range lineup.
Set to make their debut at MWC 2015 in Barcelona, LG has put together a lineup of four new mid-range handsets that collectively feature an emphasis on design. The LG Magna, Spirit, Leon and Joy all aim to bring tropes from the company’s higher-end devices, such as the recently announced LG G Flex 2 and put them into the hands of users with smaller wallets or fewer needs.

The Magna is the biggest and brightest, with a selfie-friendly 5-megapixel front-facing camera, a 5-inch 720p HD In-cell touchscreen and the largest battery in the lineup. Each device after that drops camera resolution, physical size, battery capacity and screen size, but only the baby of the bunch, the LG Joy packs a dual-core instead of a quad-core processor. The Joy will also launch running Android 4.4 KitKat, whilst the Leon, Spirit and Magna will be more current, sporting version 5.0 Lollipop.
Alongside software features like Glance View, which lets a user check on notifications even whilst their device’s screen is off, three of the four new offerings will share similar design cues to those found on the company’s premium devices. Centrally positioned buttons on the back serve to control volume and sleep/wake functionality, but as these handsets, in particular the Magna, are designed for selfie-addicts, they’ll no doubt double as hardware camera keys.
From these initial shots, all of these handsets look pretty slick, although the basic Joy relies on physical capacitive keys and loses out on the aforementioned rear-mounted hardware controls.
Beyond the specs listed above the only other information we have right now is that each handset will launch in both a 3G and a 4G variant, depending on market. The 3G models will tote patterned plastic backs, whilst the 4G versions will have metallic plastic backs.
