Microsoft pulls Windows Phone 7 update for Samsung Omnia 7

Microsoft has pulled its Windows Phone 7 updates for the Samsung Omnia 7, after reports that the updates were bricking phones began to surface.

Talking to Pocket-lint, a Microsoft spokesperson said that “We have temporarily taken down the latest software update for Samsung phones in order to correct the issue and as soon as possible will redistribute the update.”

A number of Samsung Omnia 7 owners have found that the updates have rendered their phones unusable, instead of adding the expected cut and paste features.

The pre-update to the copy and paste update has seen a number of Omnia 7’s spurting out the phrase “Error Code C101002E. Restoration Error,” and not doing much else.

There’s no word yet from Samsung about what to do if you’re an Omnia 7 owner suffering from this problem. We’ve contacted Samsung for a statement on this and further clarification and are waiting to hear back.
