Minecraft Pocket Edition now available for other Android devices

Disappointed when you learnt that the mobile version of the widely popular Minecraft was an Xperia Play exclusive? Cry no more, friend, as Minecraft Pocket Edition is now available to all Android devices. The Xperia Play version was specifically optimized to take advantage of all the hardware buttons on the device, while the newest edition of the game features intuitive touch screen controls to cater to just about every other Android device on the planet.

What’s the catch? Well, you won’t be getting the full functionality of the game as you see it on the PC. At the moment all you can do is build: there’s no survival mode, no multiplayer, no tools or crafting, no animals or enemies… you get the drift. A simpler version of the game is the price you pay for portability.

The other price you’ll be paying is £4.29 for the game, but there’s also a free demo available if you want to see what all the fuss is about. There have been a few complaints that the game won’t run on certain handsets, so we recommend you grab the demo before handing over cash money, just to be on the safe side.

Minecraft Pocket Edition is available on the Android Market now. Check out the video below to get an idea of the touch controls in action.
