Last week it was announced that the Nokia Lumia 610 could be wirelessly tethered to allow users to apply their 3G signal to additional connected device. Being a low-spec device, we certainly thought it strange that this device would have the hotspot feature and not the Lumia 800 or Lumia 710 devices.
Turning a smartphone into a wireless hotspot is a common feature on most smartphones and now Nokia has confirmed that this function will indeed to coming to the other Lumia devices, as reported by Tech Radar. It also said that the latest Nokia device, the Lumia 900, will have this ability from launch.
The update will come to the Lumia 710 and 800 via a Zune update, but although the date hasn’t been confirmed. During a Q&A session on the Nokia Connect blog Nokia said simply that it’ll be “soon.”
Within the questioning session Nokia also confirmed that the Lumia 900 will indeed feature Gorilla Glass, we’ll see it in the shops globally in the second quarter of 2012 and that the camera will include better optimisation for focus and colour balance.
One smart eyed questioner pushed the Nokia team on whether we can expect to see the 41MP camera phones like the Nokia 808 Pureview running on its Windows Phone range. Nokia of course came back with the usual “We do not comment on future releases” adding “we do expect to be leaders to imaging space and bring this innovation into future products.”
