We really hope this isn’t the Motorola Moto 360 2

The Motorola Moto 360 2 may have been spotted out in the wild, but we’re crossing every available body part that this isn’t the finished product.

Last year’s Moto 360 smartwatch was one of the first Android Wear smartwatches, but like most first-gen tech, it wasn’t quite the masterpiece we were hoping for.

Our main issue was the design, which was far chunkier than previously thought. The 360 lacked a premium feel, compounded by the low-res screen (hampered further by that ugly black bar at the base) and occasionally laggy performance.

We had high hopes for Motorola’s follow-up, the Moto 360 2, due to launch later in 2015. Our wish list included a slimmer build and an eye-strokingly gorgeous display with no dead zone, but Reddit users have spotted what looks to be the new Moto 360 2 out on the streets of Chicago (Motorola’s home town), and so far it looks like a case of ‘same again’.

Is this the Motorola Moto 360 2?

We’ve already seen one leaked Moto 360 2 render which had no dead zone and an all-new clasp for the strap, but these in-the-wild snaps of the smartwatch show something much more similar to the original wearable. It’s once again a chunky beast and that black screen bar is back (a result of bulky internals). In fact, the only obvious design change is the position of the power button, which moves to the top right quadrant.

If this is indeed the Moto 360 2 (and so far it’s mere speculation), then we’re already a little bit gutted. Here’s hoping the finished product looks a whole lot different and packs some solid specs, for smoother performance.
