Motorola’s 2015 Moto G is already selling out

We first clapped eyes and hands on the third-generation Moto G just over a week ago, but the budget priced wonder has proven so popular that stocks are already dwindling.

Over the past week we’ve given you hands-on time with Motorola’s three new smartphones (the Moto G, Moto X Play and Moto X Style) as well as a full-blown review of the new Moto G too. Aside from offering a great all-round experience at an impressively low price point, highlights include the same 13-megapixel camera sensor you’d find in the Nexus 6, water resistance and access to Moto Maker – Motorola’s online customisation tool.

The Moto G was the only phone to launch at last week’s event and potential owners could pick it up in two distinct flavours – an 8GB storage model with 1GB of RAM (for £179) and a 16GB version with 2GB of RAM (for £209). As of Monday however, ‘not available’ signs appeared underneath the beefier of the two skews, which has since been replaced by a ‘delayed shipping’.

At launch Motorola made a point of saying that if anyone was going to make a Moto G killer, it was going to be Motorola and it looks as though the new G is already proving it’s worth as units fly off virtual shelves.

Motorola hasn’t listed a date by which stocks will be fully replenished, but even though the 8GB model is still a fantastic offering, it might pay to wait for the bigger Moto G before laying down cash.
