The glam-tastic Motorola Gleam has just stepped out of its hired limo and is strutting over to the Carphone Warehouse.
The retro-riffic Gleam is sold mainly on design – its cut from the same cloth as the Razr of yesteryear. It’s a wafer-thin flip phone that’s very easy on the eye and comes in two metallic sheens – ‘Grey’ and ‘Thistle’. There’s also one of those secondary LED matrix screens on the top, which let you know if you’ve got a message or missed call.
The retro form and stylings will certainly make the Gleam stand out amid the throng of touchscreens out there. It’ll appeal to those yearning for a bit of old school texting, but you probably won’t be able to play Angry Birds on it.
Spec-wise, the Motorola Gleam comes with a 2-megapixel camera (boo, no flash) email capabilities and just a weeny 32MB of flash memory.
Thankfully, you can bulk this out with microSD cards by up to a healthy 16GB. This plus the 3.5mm headphone jack means it could effectively double as a replacement iPod/MP3 player.
You can pick up a Motorola Gleam now for just £49.95 on pay-as-you-go (plus £10 top up) on Orange and T-Mobile via Carphone Warehouse.
