Motorola Milestone owners who have been feverishly Googling “Milestone 2.2 Froyo” in the hope of discovering the Android version du jour is on its way to your handset: relax. The Android 2.2 update is on its way to Milestone users, but you do still have a little wait ahead of you.
The roll-out is scheduled to begin in Europe at the end of this year – so that’s a minimum of three-and-a-half months away, and could mean you’ll be waiting until the post-New Year hangover clears. Facebook fans of the brand are not massively impressed with this news, many questioning why Motorola has been so slow with the Milestone update when its US-counterpart, the Motorola Droid, already has the 2.2 software.
Another complicated addendum to the status update suggested that the Motorola DEXT will be getting an update to Android 2.1 (Éclair) at some point too. Don’t get too excited though, that portion of the update has since been removed.
