Moto 360 watch specs and price leaked

Retail giant Best Buy accidentally leaks the specs and price of Motorola’s sleek new smart watch, which won’t be officially launched until September.

It’s been a great week for hapless retailers leaking secret info, and this time it’s American company Best Buy dropping a massive clanger by outing the specs and launch price of Motorola’s upcoming smartwatch. The Moto 360 is set to launch on September 4th at IFA 2014, but now we know that it’ll cost $250 US, sport a water resistant body and come with a nifty charging dock bundled.

Motorola Moto 360 specs and UK price and date all leaked pre-launch

The Moto 360’s gorgeous LCD display will apparently be a 1.5-incher, complete with a 320×290 pixel resolution (giving a density of 205 pixels-per-inch). Fitness enthusiasts will be delighted to hear there’s a built-in pedometer and heart rate monitor, and the 360 can also survive for half an hour in just over three feet of water.

There were rumours last week of the Moto 360 using a wireless charging dock, and it does appear that a dock comes bundled with the watch.

As for the price, you can bet your last pair of pants that the £250 American price tag won’t directly translate to £149 here in the UK. Expect to be paying closer to £199, thanks to those lovely import taxes.

Best Buy appears to have realised its blunder, and the webpage showing off the Moto 360’s dirty secrets has now been erased from existence. Of course, the internet moved fast enough to grab all the details before that could happen, so Motorola’s launch in two weeks’ time won’t be quite as revelatory as hoped.

As the second smartwatch to rock the Android Wear OS, there’s a huge buzz surrounding the Moto 360. It couldn’t look much more different to the LG G Watch, with a sleek metallic finish contrasting with LG’s plasticky design, yet the Moto 360 still packs all the handy smart features you’d expect. We can’t wait to get our mitts on one and give it a proper testing.

Best Buy isn’t the only retailer to balls up in recent times. Just a few days ago, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 was fully outed by an Indonesian website, leaving little to the imagination. Samsung’s latest phablet is due to launch on September 3rd, just a day before Motorola’s big launch event.
