Native Gmail app for iOS out now (UPDATE: Pulled)

Turns out the information about a Gmail app for iOS wasn’t a ruse! Google just dropped the bomb on their blog that the app is now available on the App Store and through iTunes.

So what are you getting out of the Gmail app that you can’t from the regular mail app? Pretty much what you would get on the desktop or Android clients. That means starring, labelling, Priority Inbox, threaded conversations… the list goes on and on.

There’s also improved search, attachment upload from within the client (hurray!), push notifications, and if you’re on an iPad, a split view showing your inbox and current message.

Head on over to your friendly neighbourhood App Store to download Gmail now.

UPDATE: Whoops! There were still some bugs with push notifications that needed to be ironed out, so the app has been pulled for now.
