Netflix app for Windows Phone hits UK and Ireland

Netflix has released an updated version of its App for Windows Phone, with the new version adding support for users in Latin America, Ireland and the UK.

The app has been available for members in the US and Canada since November 2010.

An official announcement by the company said the expanded support will allow Netflix members to enjoy TV shows and movies anywhere Netflix is available on a broader selection of smartphones. Useful if you find yourself holidaying in a Netflix-enabled territory this summer.

“In addition to support for more regions, members can now enjoy Netflix in their local language and choose alternate audio and subtitles. If you’ve used Netflix on Windows Phone before, you should notice better performance with the updated app,” said Roma De, director of product management at Netflix.

The Netflix app will be available on the Windows Phone Marketplace as a free download.

Netflix also recently announced on Twitter that it will soon begin streaming HD films and TV shows via its iPad app.
