New Motorola-made Google phone on the way

This morning on an analyst conference call, co-CEO of Motorola, Sanjay Jha, outlined the handset manufacturer’s plans for 2010. As well as reiterating its intention to release around 20 smartphones throughout the year, he also let slip that this will include “one direct to consumer device with Google”. So a new Motorola-built Google phone is in the works; and it sounds like a similar setup as between Google and HTC, which manufactured the Nexus One hardware.

Motorola recently hopped aboard and stole the reins of the Android bandwagon with its much-lauded come-back device, the Motorola Milestone. Will it be able to keep the momentum generated by the Milestone up and satisfy Google along the way? Only time will tell.
