Nokia teases new Lumia in TV ad, looks awfully similar to Catwalk leak

Nokia finally announced the Lumia 928 at the end of last week, a refreshed version of the Lumia 920 for those on Verizon in the United States. That still leaves the question as to what Nokia will be announcing at its London event on May 14th, but a recently aired TV teaser has given us the vital clue we’ve been looking for.

The advert – which appeared late last night on Channel 4, according to TechCrunch – teases viewers with the prospect of a “new Nokia Lumia”, going on to briefly show an image of what appears to be the back of the phone. A raised camera module can clearly be seen, as well as what looks to be a dual LED flash module not too far below it. It doesn’t appear to resemble anything we’ve seen on a Nokia Lumia so far.

Go back and look closely at last month’s Catwalk leak, however, and things become clearer. You can see the same raised camera module as well as the LED flash in exactly the same location as Nokia’s teaser image. Recent rumours have indicated that the Catwalk is in fact the Lumia 925, and that Nokia intends to debut the handset at its event on May 14th. Given this latest teaser and last month’s leak, then we might just see an aluminium Lumia after all.

Reports have suggested that the specs of the device will be near identical to the Lumia 928. That includes a 4.5-inch AMOLED display with a 720p resolution, along with a dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor clocked at 1.5Ghz, 16GB of internal storage, a 2,000mAh battery, and an 8.7-megapixel camera with PureView technology. Nokia was keen to show off the camera on the Lumia 928 ahead of its official announcement. If the Lumia 925 does indeed have the same camera module, then you can expect similar results.
