New O2 On & On tariff targets data use

O2 today launched what it calls its “best ever” pay monthly tariff, which the company has named On & On.

The O2 On & On package includes unlimited minutes and text and 1GB data and costs £26 for customers keeping their current phone, or from £36 a month with a new handset.

For example, the 16GB Apple iPhone 4S has an up-front cost of £59.99 on the £36 On & On tariff, £19.99 on a £41 tariff or comes free on the £46 per month tariff.

And that bundled data can be used any way a user chooses, including streaming video and connecting other internet devices to a phone to share its internet access.

“Also included is a gigabyte of data to use however they like, including tethering and streaming, without having to worry about extra data charges once it’s been used,” said the official O2 announcement.

Regular text updates will let users know how much data they’re using and, if they use all the 1GB data, O2 promises no extra charges.. However, heavy users can upgrade to 2GB for an extra £5.
