Specifications for Amazon’s next-generation Kindle Fire tablets have been detailed in the past, and now we have a good look at a purported redesign. BGR has posted several pictures of what’s said to be the next-gen Kindle Fire HD, showing a more angular design with new button placements.
Gone are the rounded corners of the old 7-inch Kindle Fire HD, instead replaced by sharp angles. The stereo speakers have been moved to the top of the device, as have the power and volume buttons. The power switch now sits on the left hand side of the device, possibly to align fingers when the tablet is gripped, with the volume rocker shifted over to the right.
While only the 7-inch model has been posted by BGR, the site says that the redesign will extend to Amazon’s other Kindle Fire HD tablets. Specifications for the 7-inch model are said to include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC, a 1920×1200 display, 2GB of RAM, and a choice of 16, 32, or 64GB of internal storage. The larger 8.9-inch model reportedly bumps the screen resolution to 2560×1600 while adding an 8-megapixel camera.
There’s no word on when Amazon will announce the new Kindle Fire tablets, but the company has typically refreshed its line up during September. Expect to hear further details in the coming weeks.
