Nokia 6700 Slide and 7230: Colourful sliders

We miss Sliders, the TV series, not the mobile design. Nokia today unveiled two new 3G slider phones, the Nokia 6700 Slide and Nokia 7230. Sadly, neither of these phones allow you to rip holes in the space-time continuum but they do look rather cool and come in a variety of colours.

The Nokia 6700 Slide has similar features to the original 6700 but boasts some new tricks too. It comes in a neat matte metal jacket and boasts a 5-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and a dual LED flash as opposed to the single LED of the 6700. The 6700 Slide runs on S60, which means it can access apps including Spotify.

The Nokia 7230 is a classic Nokia slider which looks virtually identical to the Nokia 6600i Slide. Snaps taken on the 3.2-megapixel camera can easily be uploaded to Facebook, Flickr or Ovi over 3G. The 7230’s exterior is made up of smooth plastics, rounded edges and sexy metallic strips. It comes in black or magenta.

Both phones are due for release early next year. The 6700 Slide costs €160 (£145) and the lower-specced 7230 costs €100 (£90.50). These prices are before tax and network subsidy so expect to see them free on contracts or available for a relatively wallet-friendly price on pay-as-you-go.
