Nokia 7610 Supernova Review

The 7610 Supernova has smooth curves to go along with the glamorous slide design, and colourful, almost psychedelic themes. It’s available for free on contracts from around £20 per month.

What we like
If you like changing the look of your phone then you’ll be glad to know that the 7610 Supernova includes two “Xpress On” covers – you can get additional covers at an extra cost. In addition to the covers, the 7610 Supernova features a ‘theme colouriser’ that let’s you change the theme of your phone by identifying a colour with your camera and using that colour for the wallpaper and nav key.

Considering it’s pitched as a fashion phone with funky covers, which usually means all style and no substance, it’s nice to see a 3.2-megapixel camera and a microSD slot. There’s also an MP3 player and FM radio if you get bored of changing your phone’s theme or taking pictures.

What we don’t like
As we just said the 7610 Supernova does have some substance but smart phone fans should stay away — there’s no 3G, no Wi-Fi and no GPS. The screen is on the small side too and doesn’t offer the viewing experience of other Nokia phones such as the N95. As for the camera, it was fine in daylight but didn’t impress us in dark environments.

It’s pretty obvious that the Nokia 7610 Supernova is not a high end phone but it’s not trying to be. If you want a phone that comes with exchangeable covers and lets you send text messages and make calls easily, then this is a contender. If you’re looking for a smart phone or high end camera phone then this isn’t it.
