Nokia’s ‘Bandit’ Windows Phone will reportedly include a 6-inch 1080p display

There have been rumours in the past that Nokia is planning on introducing a 6-inch Windows Phone, and now The Verge has confirmation that the device is indeed real. According to the publication, the Finnish manufacturer is currently testing a 6-inch handset codenamed “Bandit”. And it may finally overcome Windows Phone’s spec limitations too.

The Verge has heard from sources that the “Bandit” will include a 1080p display – a first for Windows Phone – as well as a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. In addition, Nokia is apparently going to try something a little different with the camera. The Lumia 925, for instance, features an 8.7-megapixel camera, while the Lumia 1020 has an enormous 38-megapixel PureView sensor. The “Bandit”, however, could use a 20-megapixel shooter.

Nokia will reportedly stick to its trademark polycarbonate build for the handset, and include the latest GDR3 Windows Phone update that brings support for 1080p displays, as well as other minor features. There’s no exact word on when Nokia intends to announce or release the “Bandit”, but The Verge believes that it will arrive before the end of the year. The handset is reportedly being tested on US carrier AT&T right now – we’ll have to wait and see if Nokia intends to release the device internationally.
