Nokia introduces the Lumia 2520, a 10.1-inch Windows RT tablet

We saw it leaked multiple times, but now the Lumia 2520 is official. It’s Nokia’s first tablet, and naturally, it’s running Windows RT 8.1.

It shouldn’t come as any surprise to see Nokia’s key industrial design make a return here, but there are some tweaks. The edges of the tablet have been rounded, for instance, giving a better grip overall, and particular attention has been paid to the 1080p 10.1-inch display.

Nokia specifically focused on outdoor readability. The company claims that the Lumia 2520 has the brightest display of any tablet currently on the market, cutting down on reflections outdoors. There’s also LTE connectivity for productivity on the go.

Other specs include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC, as well as 2GB of RAM, a 8,000mAh battery, and a 6.7-megapixel PureView camera. Nokia says that the camera should perform admirably in low light situations, but we’ll have see if that rings true down the road.

Finally, Nokia has an accessory for its tablet that isn’t too far removed from Microsoft’s Touch and Type Covers for the Surface. Nokia calls its own keyboard cover the Power Keyboard, which adds a trackpad, two USB ports, and an additional five hours of battery life.

The Lumia 2520 will retail for $499 in the United States, with the Power Keyboard adding $150 on top of that. There’s no word on UK pricing or availability just yet, but we’re still digging.
