Nokia Lumia 800: how tough is the screen?

The Nokia Lumia 800 is made from Gorilla Glass, which means it’s screen should be shatterproof. However if you have any lingering doubts, as to how tough the screen actually is, a representative from Singtel puts the phone through its paces by scraping, scratching and dropping it.

Gorilla Glass is used in a host of modern smartphones, including the Samsung Galaxy S2 and the HTC Incredible S. It’s designed to be ultra-tough and withstand scratches and scrapes far more than glass.

Joanne-Marie Sim works for Singapore telecoms company Singtel. In the video below she puts the scratch proof claim to the test, by scraping it with keys and along a wall. before getting some willing participants to drop it. Check out what happens…

We don’t get to see a close-up of the phone, but it certainly doesn’t appear to exhibit any scratches.

Are you a Nokia Lumia 800 user? Have you accidentally scraped it at all and if so what happened? Let us know below or via Facebook and Twitter. Certainly from our experience, the Nokia Lumia 800’s screen is far tougher than that on the Apple iPhone 4/4S.
