Nokia Lumia 800 update reportedly tripling battery life

Nokia’s been busy pushing out the latest firmware update for the Nokia Lumia 800. Lucky owners in Singapore have already been lapping up the update to version 1600.2487.8107.12070. WP Central has had some hands-on time with it and is claiming that its near tripled the battery life of its Lumia 800.

Better battery management is achieved through improved screen brightness and when the Lumia 800 is idle less power is consumed than previously. In addition to this, there’s also a couple of tweaks to the camera app (white balance) and better bass response for music as well.

We’ve been checking for updates on our Lumia 800 manually, via Zune (PC) and Windows Phone 7 Connector (Mac OS) in the UK and haven’t found anything yet.

As soon as we hear of any 12070 action in the UK we’ll let you know – who doesn’t want three times extra battery life? We’re hoping that iOS 5.1 can do something similar for our iPhone 4S’s…
