Nokia N900: Tesco goes Maemo

Fancy nabbing a high-end mini-computer phone-esque device with your groceries this weekend? Head on down to Tesco where they’ll be selling the powerhouse that is the Nokia N900 on contracts with Vodafone for £30/month.

For your money you’ll enjoy 300 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited internet – which is the real clincher. We’re of the opinion that there’d be no point getting the N900 unless you had a hardcore data plan in place.

The Nokia N900 runs Nokia’s own Maemo OS, and can multi-task like nobody’s business; with Mozilla for web browsing, Adobe Flash 9.4 for those complicated animated web pages and online games and a 5.0-megapixel camera, there’s plenty to keep you busy. The 3.4-inch touchscreen is high-resolution too, so you can watch videos in luxury.

Tesco might not spring to mind when you think of investing in a high-end smartphone, but with the iPhone and the N900 swelling its ranks, it’s becoming quite the bargain phone retailer. And just think of all those lovely Clubcard points.
