More information has emerged about Nokia’s rumoured Windows RT tablet in recent weeks, and The Verge has discovered even more information about the device. The publication cites sources “familiar with Nokia’s plans”, saying that the tablet is codenamed “Sirius” and will be announced on September 26th at an event in New York.
The Verge also confirmed additional specifications for the tablet. The “Sirius” is said to include Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 quad-core SoC along with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Nokia will reportedly include two cameras with the tablet as well: a 6-megapixel shooter on the rear, with a 2-megapixel sensor on the front for video calls.
The 10.1-inch display may well be 1920×1080 too. Previous information suggested that the tablet would include a 1366×768 display, but The Verge believes that Nokia will make the jump to 1080p. The screen could include high outdoor legibility as well thanks to the use of an extremely bright panel. Additional specs and trinkets for the tablet include a microSD card slot, microHDMI and microUSB ports, plus LTE connectivity.
Finally, the design of the tablet is apparently similar to existing Lumia handsets while being thinner than the current generation iPad. Nokia may also aim for a similar price point to the iPad. If the September 26th announce date in true, then we should see invites for the event going out shortly. We’ll let you know when everything has been made official.
