Nokia X3 Touch and Type: Another Nokia X3

We weren’t really enamoured of the original Nokia X3 when it launched back in September last year. In fact, Nokia’s X Series has disappointed at almost every turn so far, so we’re not exactly thrilled to discover another X3 handset breaking cover.

What’s new about this Nokia X3 is that not only does it have the numberpad of yore, it also features a touchscreen – hence the name ‘Touch and Type’. Unlike the original X3, the Touch and Type model doesn’t bother with a hidden slider keypad, opting instead for a candybar design.

The great news is that it’s a cheap and cheerful handset – expected to retail for around £100 when it reaches the shops – and it should be available in a variety of snazzy colours. The Nokia X3 Touch and Type is also one of Nokia’s slimmest ever handsets, just 9.6mm deep.

Despite this, it packs in 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity, social networking apps, an FM radio receiver, music player, 5-megapixel camera with 4x digital zoom and a microSD slot which can house up to 16GB of external memory.

Although it’s expected to go on sale before the end of the month, we haven’t had any confirmation of dates or networks for the Nokia X3 Touch and Type yet. We’ll be sure to keep you posted.
