Nokia’s PureView Windows Phone reportedly in testing

Nokia hinted that another Windows Phone would be coming later this summer, with many believing that the next handset would finally herald the arrival the 41-megapixel PureView sensor. WPCentral claims that the mysterious device is currently in testing, and that it will indeed bring that huge sensor to Windows Phone.

According to the site, the phone is currently being tested on US carrier AT&T under the codename “Elvis”. The design language of the handset is said to follow on from the Lumia 920, sticking to the familiar polycarbonate build that we’ve seen a few times now on Nokia’s Windows Phones.

WPCentral also listed the specifications for the device, which include an OLED screen of unknown size with a 1280×768 resolution, 32GB of internal storage, and the crucial 41-megapixel sensor. Despite the bulge that the component will bring, the phone is still said to be 1mm thinner than the Lumia 920. The handset will also apparently take two shots using Nokia’s Pro Camera app. One will be a full-size 35-megapixel image for storage purposes, while the other will be a reduced 5-megapixel shot that can be shared out to friends and social networks.

The publication wasn’t given a specific launch date by its sources, but it stands to reason that the device could be released soon given that it’s currently in testing. The phone won’t be confined to the US either – it will apparently see a worldwide release when it does eventually launch.
