O2 admits that LTE won’t work on the iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S at launch

Hoping to use LTE straight away with the iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S on O2? Sorry, friends, but you’ll have to wait. LTE connectivity won’t be available on either handset at launch, as Apple still hasn’t provided the network with a proper carrier bundle.

TechRadar pinged O2 and received the following statement regarding the situation: “The iPhone 5C and 5S will ultimately work on O2’s 4G network, but we are currently waiting for Apple to enable the carrier bundle for our network. We’ve been advised this will be in the coming weeks.”

O2 is at least offering a small discount on its 4G Refresh tariff, saying that it will reduce the first month’s bill by £5. Still, it doesn’t exactly look great considering that LTE will work on EE and Vodafone’s iPhones at launch. Anyone buying the iPhone 5C or iPhone 5S on O2 will simply have to make do with 3G speeds until everything is fixed.
