Obi MV1 4G UK hands-on review and unboxing

Obi Worldphone’s first UK mobile launch, the MV1 4G, is a budget phone with a funky design running full Cyangoen OS. Here’s our Obi MV1 4G hands-on review and unboxing video.

What are the Obi MV1’s specs?

The Obi Worldphone MV1 4G is a 5-inch mobile running Cyanogen OS 12.1.1. You have a 720p IPS screen, quad-core Snapdragon 212 processor, 16GB of storage (expandable by 64GB using a microSD memory card), an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.

Obi MV1 first thoughts

The most striking thing about the Obi MV1 is the funky looks; this mobile was designed by the same San Fran firm behind Dr Dre’s Beats headphones. The flat top and curved bottom adds a unique flair to the MV1, as does the old-school Lumia-style floating display. It feels good in the hand, with a decent heft.

The 720p 5-inch screen is sharp, with a cold colour gamut. It’s not as vibrant as some rivals, such as the brilliant Samsung Galaxy J5, but it’s quite easy on the eye. And while the 8-megapixel camera isn’t the fastest mobile snapper at this price point, it seems to capture detailed images.

We’ll be bringing you our full Obi MV1 4G UK review soon.
