OnePlus is taking a leaf out of Apple’s book by selling the OnePlus 2 at Parisian boutique Colette for one day only.
The OnePlus team have just revealed that their prized new smartphone is going to be on sale in Paris, but only for tomorrow. During the launch of the new flagship co-founder Pete Lau alluded to alternative points of purchase outside of the company’s traditional and somewhat awkward invite system.
Rather than having to beg and plead those already on the list for a OnePlus 2 to receive an invite of their own, OnePlus fans who are in (or able to get to) Paris, France from 11:00 am on August 11th will have the chance of walking into famed boutique Colette and laying down cash over counter to walk back out with the Chinese smartphone maker’s newest flagship killer.
Colette served as the scene of extensive queing earlier this year when it became one of the few places selling the Apple Watch ahead of general release. OnePlus is likely hoping to emulate that same hype (the company’s buzzword of choice incidentally) and drum up interest in the new flagship smartphone on launch day.
Those unable to make their way to Colette, or unable to wait out the expected queues will have to butter up those already on the list for a handset, or perhaps even those who were able to nab a handset in-store.
