Orange has announced details of its first tablet; the Orange Tahiti has a 7-inch screen and runs Android 3.2 Honeycomb, with access to the Android Market.
The tablet is powered by a 1.2Ghz Qualcomm processor, with Adobe Flash out of the box and
Connectivity includes WiFi, 3G and Bluetooth and there’s a 5-megapixel camera.
With models like the San Francisco and Monte Carlo, Orange is building a reputation for creating affordable 
entry-level and PAYG smartphones, but this is the first time the company has stepped into the tablet arena.
Paul Jevons, from Everything Everywhere comments: “We’re pleased to be expanding our portfolio of own-brand devices into tablets for the first time. The Tahiti is a stylish, lightweight device with a great quality screen, which we believe really does offer great value innovation and will help customers to get the most out of their multimedia content whilst on the go”.
Lauching this week, the Orange Tahiti isn’t cheap. Surprisingly it costs £69.99 upfront, then £25 a month on a 24-month contract, with 1GB data, 1GB quiet time data (from midnight to 4am), unlimited WiFi hotspot access. It’s available free with the San Francisco II on the Connected 24 month plan, with 2GB data to be used across both devices.
