RIM to release first BB10 mobile phone by October

RIM plans to pull the wraps of off its first BlackBerry 10 device in August of this year, with launch to market taking place by mid-October, ahead of the holiday season.

A source informed N4BB.com that this first device, will apparently be the first full touchscreen BlackBerry to run the new OS, previously the flagship title has been the BlackBery Bold range, with its trademark full portrait QWERTY form factor.

The first BlackBerry 10 mobile phone could resemble the BlackBerry London concept which appeared earlier this year (below) gave us the first true taste of what to expect not only from the future of RIM’s possible design direction, but the future of BlackBerry 10 as the company’s new operating system.

That being said, it’s far too soon to assume that RIM intends to push the future of their new OS entirely on touchscreen only devices, with talk of a BlackBerry 10 QWERTY device arriving sometime in Q1 next year.

In the meantime, it’s worth checking out what we are expecting from BlackBerry 10 as a platform; there’s talk of Playbook enhancements, social network integration, cloud services, high-end gaming performance and more.  RIM’s developers conference BlackBerry World is taking place next week, so we should find out more very soon.
