Rovio u-turns decision and will bring Angry Birds Space to Windows Phone

Rovio’s latest app Angry Birds Space has got everyone excited and is set to be a huge hit on the app charts. That is apart from the Windows Phone charts. Microsoft and Nokia were left worried after the developer notably left Windows Phone off the platform. With Peter Vesterbacka, Chief Marketing Officer at Rovio, stating to Bloomberg; “We’re the No.1 app in the Windows Phone app store, but it’s a big undertaking to support it, and you have to completely rewrite the application”.

Nokia has put all its cards down on the Windows Phone platform and Microsoft alike trying to establish itself in the market, this was not good news for both companies. A huge developer like Rovio not feeling that the Windows Phone platform is worth investing in it would have been a deathly blow.

However, thankfully after muling over its decision Rovio’s Chief Exec, Mikael Hed, has come back and told Reuters that “We are working towards getting Angry Birds Space to WP7” – sighs of relieve can be heard all round.

Since its launch Angry Birds Space has already shot its way to the top of the iOS paid and grossing charts, sorry DrawSomething, and is sure to be a big hit on Windows Phone when it is released.
