HTC may launch a high-end NFC-enabled smartphone in the third quarter of 2011.
An un-named HTC “sales manager”, told BrightSideOfNews that they plan to unveil the phone later this year, adding that it would be ‘positioned slightly above’ the recently announced HTC Sensation, but packing a similarly expansive 4.3-inch screen.
HTC CEO, Peter Chou, has mentioned previously that NFC features could arrive in future phones
“Mobile payments – wirelessly and securely from devices like smartphone- would be definitely the trend of the future and we’ll be supporting that,” said Chou, when asked about NFC during an interview in December 2010. We got in touch with HTC UK to follow up on any future HTC handsets set to arrive with NFC, and was told that they, “do not comment on rumour or speculation”. Quietly brilliant?
