Samsung Galaxy Fame unboxing video

We first encountered the Samsung Galaxy Fame at Mobile World Congress earlier this year. Sammy has been working hard to bolster its mid and low-end handset portfolio for 2013 and with the Galaxy S4 now at the helm, the complete lineup is looking pretty robust.

Despite being an early 2013 handset, its arrival ahead of the Galaxy S4 means that the Galaxy Fame still follows in the footsteps of last year’s flagship from a design perspective. This is no bad thing as despite its entry-level standing, the phone offers a pleasing blend of premium plastic with chromed elements, smooth lines and rounded edges.

Before we look at the handset however, we need to inspect the box it comes in. The compact little cuboid features a white Fame on its front with the phone’s NFC capabilities highlighted in the top right hand corner. Aside from the website address on the box’s top, the rest of the sides remain devoid of any information, except that is for the right side which highlights key features of the handset such as GPS, its 1300mAh battery, 5-megapixel camera, 1GHz single-core processor, 3.5-inch HVGA LCD panel and TouchWiz user interface.

Flip open the top and the first thing you’re presented with is the handset itself, wrapped in plastic and laden with a screen protector highlighting more features of the device as wall as plastic film along the phone’s edging, home button and back plate. Lifting the phone and its resting tray out of the box uncovers the literature consisting of a quick start guide and warranty again in a plastic bag. All that remains is a standard UK plug to microUSB lead and a USB to microUSB for data connections.
