It’s hardly surprising news following leaks last week, but Samsung has officially confirmed it will be releasing the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1; a larger screen version of the 5.3-inch Samsung Galaxy Note.
Launching with Android 4.0: Ice Cream Sandwich, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 retains the S-Pen, which can be used for writing notes and drawing. Samsung claims the larger 10.1-inch 1280×800 sceen will enable users to view web pages and make notes simultaneously.
The S Note feature enables users to combine notes and sketches with pictures, video and web pages to create a storyboard, either from scratch of using a selection of templates. The S-Pen can be used to drag content easily from a web page to the screen.
Samsung has added some new features that aren’t in the original Note. Shape Match digitises geometric shapes drawn by hand, while the Formula Match helps correct and digitise formulas also drawn using the S-Pen.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 is powered by a 1.4Ghz dual-core processor, HSDPA, 3G and WiFi are on board, along with Bluetooth 3.0, something which also leaked last week.
Simon Stanford, UK & IRE Telecommunications & Networks Division said: “The Galaxy Note 10.1 takes productivity on a Note to a whole new level. With a larger, fully utilisable screen and superior performance, it combines the intuitiveness of handwriting with all the versatility of digital content to let users be more productive across all of life’s demanding tasks—whether working, learning, or simply creating their own stories.’
Other features include a primary 3-megapixel camera with auto focus and LED flash and a front-facing 2-megapixel camera.
There’s no information yet on UK pricing or availability, but we’ll bring you more news as soon as we get it.
