Samsung’s massive new Galaxy Note 7 phablet is set to hit the UK in two weeks, and at 5.7-inches it’s one of the biggest phones of 2016. But how does it compare to that fellow 5.7-incher, the Nexus 6P?

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 vs Nexus 6P: Which is best?
Google’s Nexus phones tend to be straight-laced handsets, with little to speak of in terms of bonus features. The Nexus 6P is no different. Android Marshmallow appears in a very vanilla form, with no tinkering from LG. That makes for a clean and smooth user experience, but also means the Note 7 is a clear winner when it comes to features.
Samsung has ploughed a ridiculous number of features into the Galaxy Note 7, including lots of creative tools to make use of the brilliant S Pen stylus (ejected from the corner of the phone with a little push). You can create GIFs, sketch doodles, edit documents and loads more besides.
Security is also much better on the Note 7, with an iris scanner to back up the fingerprint sensor, as well as Samsung’s own Knox software and the new Secure Folders feature (which stores your private stuff under lock and key). The Nexus 6P makes do with just a fingerprint sensor.
Both 5.7-inch screens boast a sharp Quad HD resolution, although the Note 7’s display packs punchier colours that really pop. The Nexus 6P produces more realistic tones instead.
And while the Nexus 6P can’t match the Note 7 for performance, you do get better battery life with Google’s phone. We can regularly keep going for a day and a half on a single charge, while the Note 7 tends to die within a day.
As for camera tech, the Galaxy Note 7 is again the winner. That 12-megapixel camera, found also on the Galaxy S7, is dependable in pretty much any conditions and especially good in low light. That said, the Nexus 6P isn’t far behind, handling tricky lighting conditions well. You can shoot 4K video on either phone.
