Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 unboxing video

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 is the third in the current generation of Galaxy Note products. Following on from the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy Note 10.1, the latest instalment packs the same main differentiator as the rest of the family, its S Pen. Inside is also a 1.6GHz Exynos 4 processor and an HD display on which to show everything off. Extremely slim, at just 8mm, the Note 8.0 also has another quirk seen on very few tablets out there – it’s an oversized phone. With that in mind, we take to unboxing this beast of a ‘mobile’, talking through both box contents and first impressions.

As you’ll see from the video, Samsung has gone to go down the green route when it comes to the Note 8.0, at least in terms of box look and feel. The Soy ink laden uncoated encasing looks altogether more rustic brown, and the earthy theme even extends to inside the box, with a sienna instruction manual and warranty card.

The tablet isn’t earthy though, it’s bright white. Available with and without telephony functions, our version, unfortunately, is a WiFi only sample – so no Dom Joly moments in the office this time round. That said, box contents should be extremely comparable if not identical across both versions. Contents include a microUSB cable, power adapter and the tablet itself, as well as the S Pen stowed away in its lower right portion.

After turning on the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 and spending a night fondling its elegant curves, we’d say our first impressions are generally positive. The tablet cum phone is slim and waif like. Despite the plastic feel, it doesn’t feel cheap or hollow per se. The IR blaster is great to have and works well with the on board Peel app, and the S Pen is a joy to use on a slightly larger display.

If that’s got you in the mood for a review, check back towards the end of the week when we’ll be divulging all. In the meantime, enjoy our humble unboxing:
