Samsung Galaxy S hands-on

While other manufacturers dip their toes in the touchscreen pool, Samsung has jumped right into the deep end. The latest touchscreen phone to emanate from the South Korean giant is the Samsung Galaxy S.

At a celeb-studded event in London we managed to get some hands-on time with this beast of a phone and take some pictures of it for you to drool over.

The first thing you’ll notice is how light the Galaxy S feels, in fact we would have preferred if the casing was made out of metal rather than plastic. But who cares about a casing when you’ve got a 4-inch AMOLED screen to play with. It’s one of the best screens we’ve ever seen: bright, clear and responsive.

The Galaxy S runs Android 2.1 and we were told that it would get 2.2 at some point this year. Fingers crossed.

Some people reported feeling a tiny bit of lag between pages but we found it lightning fast. You can really feel the 1GHz processor churning away in the background to give you a smooth experience. Click on the next page for more pics and a hands-on video.

On the back of the Samsung Galaxy S you’ll find a 5-megapixel camera/

The Samsung Galaxy S feels thin and light – a bit too light for our tastes.

Look at how beautiful that 4-inch AMOLED screen is.

At the top of the Samsung Galaxy S there’s a micro USB port and 3.5mm headphone jack.

Recombu looks great on the Galaxy S, doesn’t it.

Thar she blows. The Galaxy S packs a 1500 mAh battery.

We hope this means the Galaxy S will last for a day at least.

Look familiar?

We found the Samsung Galaxy S fast and responsive.
