Samsung Galaxy S to get Android 2.2 in November

Samsung Galaxy S users have been waiting a while, but we’ve finally learned that the Android 2.2 (Froyo) update will be available in early November. It’s currently being tested with UK operators, so all operator versions should be fully tested and good to go before the December 1st.

You have to download the update via Samsung Kies, Samsung’s proprietary software upgrade programme. There will be a brand new version of Kies available to “make the software upgrade experience as smooth as possible” – not sure how forcing you to download a second piece of software is really smoothing out the process, but there you go.

Once you’ve waited another few weeks and faffed about downloading Kies, you’ll be able to actually upgrade the software on your Galaxy S and enjoy such features as GPS navigation in Google Maps, Adobe Flash Player 10.1 for viewing video and animated content as you browse the web and other exciting new additions that Google Nexus One owners have been enjoying since June.
