Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini launching tomorrow in Germany

The handset that broke both pre-order and opening day sales records is about to be joined by its miniaturised twin. Following a small scale media briefing in Samsung’s homeland of South Korea, Samsung Mobile Communications’ head honcho, JK Shin said that a 4-inch variant of the Samsung Galaxy S3 would be unveiled on October 11th (this Thursday).

The Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini is expected to make use of a 4-inch display size, but doesn’t follow the conventional trend of smaller display size – lesser internal hardware. The S3 Mini will in fact be shrugging any notion of entry-level, despite the ‘Mini’ name which has previously elicited modest hardware in a compact, attractive package.

Korean news site iNews24.com state that Mr Shin’s company is pushing the S3 Mini towards Europe as the 4-inch display size sees particular popularity in that market, “There’s a lot of demand for a 4-inch screen device in Europe.” he said.

A smaller 4-inch device nearing the realms of the standard Galaxy S3 is certainly an interesting proposition as it would make for the smallest quad-core smartphone in the market (if indeed it sticks with quad-core architecture). What’s more, the 4-inch display size, flagship hardware mix might be Samsung’s attempt at reducing sales of the iPhone 4S and 4, which will likely see increased popularity thanks to the inevitable price drop they encountered following the release of the iPhone 5.

We’ll bring you more following its official unveil tomorrow.
