Samsung Galaxy S3 now available in India

Add another major market to the list. The Samsung Galaxy S3 yesterday became available in India. The flagship device, which was announced last month, has already rolled out in parts of Europe and broke numerous pre-order and opening day sales records in regions such as the UK.

The Galaxy S3 is the company’s new flagship which takes over from one of the best selling smartphones of all time, last year’s Samsung Galaxy S2. For the meantime, the Galaxy S3 looks like it’ll maintain the top spot in global smartphone rankings as its top tier hardware and Samsung’s ferocious marketing strategy keep it in the fore of everyone’s mind.

The most notable aspects of the device include its crystal clear 4.8-inch HD SuperAMOLED display, NFC and wireless charging, Samsung’s own quad-core Exynos chipset and it’s the first device to utilise the company’s ‘Hyperglaze’ finish. The Times of India report that the S3 is now retailing for around 43,180 INR (£506) SIM Free.

In the time we spent with the S3, we were blown away by how capable it was. The features set Samsung have bestowed upon it, paired with impressive battery (particularly for a quad-core device) and a slick user experience make it one of our favourite devices to date. Samsung are riding high right now with the success of the S3, but the company’s main rival Apple, are yet to unleash this year’s iPhone, which many anticipate could arrive at WWDC later this month. These two mobile giants will cross swords most prevalently in the US, a market where the Galaxy S3 is yet to launch.
