We may not have got to play with the Samsung Galaxy S3 at Mobile World Congress this year, but according to media reports coming out of South Korea it seems the eagerly-awaited smartphone is now heading to production.
Well, Samsung Mobile Display (SMD) has reportedly begun manufacturing screens for the phones – which is a start at least.
According to the information leaked from SMD, the Galaxy S3 will feature a non-Pentile display with an HD resolution. That would make it the first screen of its type to come from Samsung’s OLED division.
Rumours have been circulating for some time about what we can expect to see under the bonnet of the Samsung Galaxy S3.
Features are thought to include a quad-core mobile chipset (possibly a 1.4GHz Samsung Exynos 4); the same Mali 400 MP GPU as the Galaxy S2, clocked slightly higher; a 4.5-4.65-inch HD Super AMOLED screen with a 720p resolution; and a 12-megapixel camera. Naturally, the phone will be capable of running Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. Samsung is keeping very quiet about all rumours at the moment.
Samsung is currently thought to be testing the Galaxy S3 with Korean wireless carriers, so expect launch news imminently.
