Samsung Galaxy S4 specs uncovered in leaked benchmarking results

We’re less than two weeks from the arrival of the Samsung Galaxy S4, on track for a big launch event in New York on the 14th, but ahead of any official facts and figures, a recent benchmarking service has turned up a hit for Sammy’s forthcoming top dog and things look pretty interesting.

The information revealed by AnTuTu Benchmark and picked up by SamMobile confirms what many had already anticipated with the introduction of a 4.99-inch Full HD display on the front which is likely to sit atop the recognisable capacitive back and menu keys as well as that all important hardware home button. What’s more, Samsung’s long talked about octa-core mobile processor does look to feature at the heart of the S4 with its 4+4 configuration for a balance of power and performance, clocked at a snappy 1.8GHz.

There will also be a PowerVR SGX 544MP ARM-based GPU and 2GB of RAM which sets this handset up for some serious number crunching potential. There was talk of more than one Galaxy S4 model just a few weeks back, following uncertainty as to whether the company’s octa-core chip could accommodate an LTE radio too, but in this instance the GT-I9500 looks like it’ll be the only S4 around toting GSM/WCDMA and LTE (4G) mobile data speeds from the get-go and playing host to either 16GB or 32GB of onboard storage.

When the S4 does hit in the next few days, it’ll sport the latest version of Android Jelly Bean: 4.2 and come complete with the newest version of Samsung’s own TouchWiz overlay, which we assume will no longer be called TouchWiz Nature UX and instead take the form of something else entirely. The handset’s back will also make use of a 13-megapixel snapper putting it in the firing line of the impressive Sony Xperia Z and a 2.1-megapixel front-facer.
